The expectations of Limassol hoteliers regarding last-minute bookings appear to be coming true, as bookings have reached last year’s levels, with the August occupancy rate hovering around 90%, Christos Tsanos, President of PASYXE Limassol, told CNA.
On June 23, Mr. Tsanos had expressed optimism to CNA that the climate created by the war in neighboring Iran would improve, following the revision of travel advisories by various countries. At the same time, he had expressed the expectation that occupancy rates would be much better during the summer months than initially estimated, “although three months do not make up for an entire year.”
In his remarks today, he noted that “the defining feature of this year is last-minute bookings, and the data confirm our statements from late June,” adding that “August is seeing booking levels similar to those of August 2025.”
Booking levels in the city and province of Limassol are around 90% in August, he continued, noting that this trend strengthened during the week of August 10–17, driven by domestic tourism bookings.
Regarding hotel pricing policies, he said, “We have maintained prices at many levels similar to last year’s, with any increases not exceeding 5%, a good strategy to help both local tourists and others interested in returning to our city.”
He also pointed out that Limassol primarily caters to higher-income tourists with higher expectations, which requires “maintaining high standards of service.”
