Training for Forestry Department personnel across Cyprus on the use of the 17 new fire trucks recently added to the Forestry Department’s fleet has been completed.
According to an announcement by the Department, the new fire trucks are equipped with modern safety systems and advanced operational capabilities, enhancing the effectiveness of forest firefighting operations.
The training program, the statement notes, included theoretical and practical training and was conducted by the contractor responsible for supplying the vehicles, with the participation of specialized instructors from the manufacturer who traveled to Cyprus for this purpose.
During the practical training, participants became familiar with operating the vehicles, the operation of firefighting equipment and their individual systems, as well as safe driving techniques and their operational use in forest firefighting conditions.
“Ongoing staff training is a fundamental prerequisite for making effective use of the modern resources available to the Forestry Department,” the statement notes.
According to the announcement, the acquisition of the new fire trucks, combined with appropriate training for their operators, significantly enhances the Department’s operational readiness and contributes to the more effective protection of forests, the natural environment, and citizens from the risk of wildfires.
