Temperatures will reach the 40s today, with a Yellow Alert in effect from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
At the same time, an unstable air mass is beginning to affect the island, bringing rain and thunderstorms.
Here is the detailed forecast:
A seasonal low-pressure system is prevailing in the region, while an unstable air mass is beginning to affect the island starting today.
Today, in most parts of the island, the weather will be mostly clear with temporary increases in local cloud cover. However, starting around noon, clouds developing mainly in the mountainous areas are expected to bring isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms. Winds will initially be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, before gradually shifting to southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and along the southern and eastern coasts in the afternoon, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough, though it will be temporarily slightly rough in the afternoon on the windward coasts. Temperatures will reach around 40 degrees inland, around 31 on the western and southwestern coasts, around 35 along the rest of the coast, and around 29 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
Tonight, the weather will be generally clear, but at times there will be increased, mostly low cloud cover, particularly in coastal areas. Winds will gradually become downslope, light at 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 24 degrees inland, around 25 degrees along the coast, and around 21 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the weather in most parts of the island will be mostly clear with temporary increases in local cloud cover. However, starting around noon, clouds developing in the mountains and inland areas are expected to bring isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is possible during thunderstorms.
Temperatures on Friday will drop slightly and remain at the same levels through Sunday, thus hovering near the seasonal average.
