Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sparked a storm of reactions on social media following an interview he gave on a podcast that was published Thursday night.
According to the Israeli channel C14, during the interview, Netanyahu referred to the political and demographic situation in Britain, sarcastically remarking that it could be called the “Islamic Republic of Britain.” Netanyahu added sarcastically that “someone said that the first Islamic democracy with nuclear weapons will be Britain,” emphasizing that Israel is working to “prevent another Islamic nuclear democracy in Tehran.”
Netanyahu’s inflammatory comments sparked the outrage of well-known British commentator Piers Morgan, who has about 9 million followers on X. Morgan shared the quote and personally attacked Netanyahu, calling him an “idiot.”
Netanyahu on Britain:
You might call Britain the “Islamic Republic of Britain.”

Morgan’s tweet sparked a major online controversy and garnered hundreds of thousands of views and thousands of comments.
Omri Haim, a correspondent for the Israeli channel, responded aggressively to Morgan: “Yeah, he’s the idiot. How’s Birmingham doing? Don’t come crying when you feel the water boiling, you frog.”
It should be noted that Zakir Chadri, a British citizen of Pakistani descent, is an elected city councilor and holds the honorary and ceremonial title of Lord Mayor of Birmingham.
