A large black bear at Lake Tahoe in California demonstrated her skills at… breaking and entering; not only did she find a way to get into a house, but also managed to walk away with a sandwich in her mouth.
As seen in the security camera footage, the bear hesitantly approaches the window of one of the house’s bedrooms.
At one point, it tries to tear the window screen off with its claws, which it eventually manages to do.
A few seconds later, it decides to enter the house, and shortly afterward, it appears to leave with its prey in its mouth. According to U.S. media reports, the bear appears to have done the same thing three times in one day.

Black bear intrusions in this area have forced residents to spend thousands of dollars to protect their property. One resident, for example, told the Wall Street Journal that she spent $7,500 to install a steel door and electric deterrents.
By the end of July, local police had received 174 calls regarding bear incidents, compared to 97 such calls during the same period in 2025.
