Police arrested a 36-year-old man at noon today on charges of attempted murder of a 29-year-old woman.
According to well-informed sources, the victim appears to have been the 36-year-old’s partner and endured two days of hell at his hands when he locked her in his home and beat her.
According to the official police statement, following a report of injuries to a 29-year-old woman, the police proceeded at noon today at noon, to arrest a 36-year-old man to facilitate the investigation.
The 36-year-old is being investigated for the crimes of attempted murder, acts intended to cause serious bodily harm or to prevent arrest, abduction or kidnapping, or deprivation of liberty with the intent to subject a person to serious bodily harm, assault resulting in actual bodily injury, threats, and offenses of violence against women.
The above offenses appear to have been committed between August 12 and 13, 2026, in Nicosia.
The 29-year-old woman visited Nicosia General Hospital, where she was found to have bruises, swelling, and hematomas in various parts of her body. After receiving first aid, she was discharged.
The 36-year-old man is expected to appear tomorrow before the Nicosia District Court for a detention order to be issued. The Nicosia CID is investigating the case.
