Thunderstorms and Hail: The Weather Outlook Through Wednesday

Seasonal low pressure and an unstable air mass are affecting the island.

Tonight, locally increased low cloud cover will be observed at times, while later on and during the early morning hours, patchy fog or mist may form locally, mainly in eastern and inland areas. Winds will weaken and become downslope, light, at 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain slightly rough in the west and north, while in the south and east it will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 24 degrees inland and along the coast, and to around 18 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tomorrow, there will be periods of increased local cloud cover, and after noon, clouds building up in the mountains, inland, and in eastern regions are expected to bring scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is expected during thunderstorms. Winds in the morning will be variable, light, 3 Beaufort, before soon shifting to southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and along the coast in the afternoon, temporarily strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough in the west and north in the morning, while along the rest of the coast it will be calm to slightly rough; however, it will gradually become generally slightly rough by the afternoon. Temperatures will reach around 37 degrees inland, around 30 on the western coast, around 34 on the rest of the coast, and around 28 degrees in the higher mountainous areas.

Tomorrow night, there will be locally increased cloud cover, which may gradually lead to isolated showers in the west. Later, during the early morning hours, patchy fog may form locally, mainly in the southeast. Winds will gradually weaken and become light, blowing from the south at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough, but will gradually become calm to slightly rough in the south and east.

On Monday and Tuesday, the weather will be generally partly cloudy and locally cloudy at times, while isolated showers are likely in the west during the morning hours. After noon, however, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the mountainous areas and the eastern half of the island. Hail is expected during thunderstorms.

On Wednesday, there will be periods of increased local cloud cover, while after noon, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the mountains and inland areas. Hail is expected during thunderstorms.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Wednesday, remaining slightly below normal levels for this time of year.
