One of the two children is on a ventilator; they were taken to Makarios Hospital following the tragedy that occurred on Saturday afternoon at a beach in Larnaca, when their mother died tragically.
According to the latest update, the 12-year-old girl is on a ventilator, while her 14-year-old sister is being treated at the same hospital in serious but stable condition.

The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday while the family of five, all European citizens, was in the water. Under circumstances that remain unclear, the mother drowned while the two young girls were in danger.

The 35-year-old was pulled from the water unconscious, and despite resuscitation efforts, she was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the two children, who had been in the water with her, were initially taken to Larnaca General Hospital and then transferred to Makarios Hospital.
According to RIK, the incident occurred shortly after the lifeguard’s shift in the area had ended.
The police are investigating the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred.
