Tsitsipas was eliminated in the second round of the Cincinnati Open.
The Greek tennis player couldn’t find his rhythm in his match against the Canadian, world No. 4 and No. 2 seed, Félix Auger-Aliassime, losing 2-0 in sets (3-6, 5-7) and being eliminated from the tournament taking place in the U.S.
The match began with Aliassime coming out stronger, as he first held his serve and then broke his opponent’s, taking a 3-0 lead. Stefanos won his first game to cut the deficit to 3-1, but all he managed afterward was to narrow the gap to 2-4 and then 3-5, before watching his opponent reach 6-3 to take a 1-0 lead in sets.
At the start of the second set, Tsitsipas watched the Canadian break him again, but he fought back and broke back to take a 2-1 lead, but Aliassime then won three consecutive games to take a 4-2 lead.
Stefanos held his serve to cut the deficit to 3-4 and then to 4-5, and subsequently broke serve to tie the score at 5-5. However, the Canadian responded immediately, breaking Stefanos’s serve to regain the lead, before taking the final game to reach 7-5 and celebrate his victory and advancement to the third round of the tournament.
