ALPHANEWSLIVE

Applications for government aid are now being accepted—and will remain open until October 12, 2026—for businesses affected by the August 13 fire in the greater area of Siin the Municipality of Kassandra

According to a relevant announcement by the Civil Protection Department of the Regional Unit of Chalkidiki, affected businesses may submit an application for state aid to the Regional Unit of Chalkidiki, by October 12, 2026, via email to ([email protected]), via courier service or ELTA, or in person at the Civil Protection Department of the Regional Unit of Chalkidiki (Administration Building, 1st floor – Postal Code 631 00, tel: 23713 51401).

The grant is provided pursuant to Law 4797/2021(A’66), and applicants declare that they wish for the State Aid Committee to conduct an on-site inspection of their business for the purpose of recording and assessing the damages:

“Recipients of state aid” are defined as:

-“Businesses”: industrial and craft facilities, retail stores, agricultural operations, businesses engaged in lawful economic activity, regardless of their legal form, including sole proprietorships and self-employed professionals, as well as businesses involved in the production, processing, or marketing of fishery and aquaculture products. The enterprises referred to in the preceding paragraph also include public enterprises, municipal or community public-benefit enterprises, and public limited companies of local government organizations (O.T.A.). Agricultural holdings include crop and livestock farms owned by one or more natural persons or legal entities.

-“Nonprofit organizations”: legal entities and private-law entities that pursue public-benefit or other purposes of interest to society as a whole and do not seek to make a profit, such as charitable associations, public-benefit foundations, and nonprofit civil companies.

The relevant information and supporting documents must be submitted to the competent committees within a reasonable time frame so that the determination and assessment of the damage can be completed in a timely manner, as well as to verify the economic activity at the declared facility as of the date of the fire.

Please note that damage to buildings caused by natural disasters occurring after September 26, 2021, is no longer covered by the State Aid Directorate; but rather by the General Directorate for the Mitigation of Natural Disaster Impacts (G.D.M.N.D.I.).
