The Drug Enforcement Agency (YKAN) continue at an intensive and targeted pace to locate and seize narcotics, as well as to identify and arrest individuals involved in cases of drug possession and trafficking.
Yesterday, members of the YKAN, acting on a court warrant, conducted a search of a residence in Nicosia where a 33-year-old man resides. During the search, the following items were found, carefully hidden in various locations throughout the residence:
- Cannabis – Two kilograms and five grams.

The 33-year-old was arrested and taken into custody, and is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today for the issuance of a detention order.
In another case, yesterday afternoon, police officers stopped a car for inspection in the Limassol area; the vehicle was being driven by a 21-year-old man and was moving suspiciously, without front license plates.
During the subsequent search of the vehicle, the following were found:
- Four nylon packages containing 46 grams of cannabis.
- One nylon package containing approximately 3.5 grams of cocaine.
- 1,850 euros in cash.
- A precision scale.
- Disposable gloves and other evidence.
The 21-year-old was arrested on the spot for a flagrant offense and was subsequently re-arrested pursuant to a court warrant and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, as part of an investigation into a drug possession case in the Larnaca district, dated August 13, 2026, a 20-year-old was arrested yesterday and taken into custody.
The case involves the discovery and possession of:
- 342 grams of cannabis and cannabis resin.
- Five grams of cocaine.
A 22-year-old man was also arrested in connection with the same case and was remanded in custody for four days.
During the night, five other cases arose in Ayia Napa and Paphos involving drug possession, for which five other individuals, aged 23, 25, 26, 27, and 29, were arrested.
The systematic and targeted efforts of the Drug Enforcement Agency are also reflected in the overall results since the beginning of the year.
Specifically, from January 1, 2026, to the present, the Drug Enforcement Agency has detected and seized a total of 323 kilograms of cannabis and cannabis resin, as well as 81 kilograms of cocaine.
These quantities, combined with ongoing operations, investigations, and arrests, demonstrate the Drug Enforcement Agency’s sustained and decisive action to combat drug trafficking and trade and to protect society from the consequences of narcotic substances.
Investigations into all cases are ongoing.
