A New Chapter for Chelsea…
Board Chairman Todd Boehly and board member Mark Walter are reportedly considering selling their stake to themajority shareholder of the “Blues,” the private equity firm “Clearlake Capital.”
According to reports in the British press, the American billionaires are valuing the 13% of Chelsea’s shares that each holds at 5.8 billion euros.
Boeli and Walter partnered with that firm to purchase the London club in May 2022 from Roman Abramovich, for approximately 2.9 billion euros.
Over the past two years, the British media have reported on tensions between “Clearlake Capital” and Boehly, due to Chelsea’s disappointing results, despite the hundreds of millions of euros spent on player acquisitions.
