Nearly three months after taking office as a Member of Parliament for Direct Democracy in the Famagusta District, Diana Konstantinidi spoke on the Alpha Summer program about the goals she has set for the new parliamentary session beginning this coming September.
As she explained, she has found a “jungle” during the debates in the parliamentary committees and intends to request amendments to the relevant rules of procedure of the House so that each member of Parliament “speaks where and when they should.” At the same time, he expressed the desire that what is said during committee meetings be made available to the public, at least in audio form.
“It’s a bit of a jungle out there. That’s how I experienced it. So we need to figure out how to communicate this.”
When asked about the use of the Agora app by members of Direct Democracy, she said that upgrades are currently underway to simplify the voting process for various issues that arise.
She explained that the app was not used in the election of the Speaker of the House because there was not enough time to inform the public, while noting that Direct Democracy expects DISY—“which is a 27% party”—to fulfill the commitments it made to support the candidacy of Annita Dimitriou.
As for the month of August, which is vacation season, the MP noted that it is a very busy time for her, as she is studying and reviewing the gaps, amendments, and proposals that the party will submit shortly.
