Wednesday’s schedule features five matches (August 19) in the second qualifying round of the Superbet Greek Cup, with Kifisia, Panetolikos, and the other teams set to take the field.
Kifisia faces Zakynthos, a newcomer to Super League 2, with the match taking place in Kaisariani rather than on the island, due to issues with the Ionian team’s home stadium. The team from the northern suburbs has changed significantly compared to last year, with Zakynthos looking to pull off an upset by capitalizing on Leto’s team’s lack of rhythm.

Nestos aims to capitalize on its home-field advantage in Chrysoupoli and secure a spot in the next round against the historic Apollon Kalamaria, in a match with no clear favorite. Next, Niki Volos and Panionios face off at “Pantelis Magoulas,” with the two historic clubs—which both finished second in their respective Super League 2 groups last year—seeking a major advancement.
Kalamata, riding high on its promotion to the Stoiximan Super League, faces Panetolikos and aims to secure a statement victory, in one of the most intriguing matchups of the round. The game will be played in Kallithea, as the stadium in Paralia is not yet ready to host matches.
Finally, Panserraikos hosts Panthrakikos with the goal of taking the first step in the Cup in front of its home crowd. The “Lions” have managed to retain several quality players on their roster despite their relegation and are the clear favorites against the team from Thrace.
The 11 winners of the second qualifying round matches and the five “European” teams from the Stoiximan Super League (AEK, Olympiacos, PAOK, Panathinaikos, and OFI) will make up the 16-team League Phase. The League Phase begins in September (September 1–3 for the first matchday). Please note that in this round, in the event of a tie, there will be no extra time; instead, the match will go directly to a penalty shootout.
