Trabzonspor pulled off one of the biggest and most unexpected transfers of the summer with the signing of Mohamed Salah.
The Turkish club “went all out” and added to its roster one of the top soccer players of the past decade, one year after the best season of his career, clearly signaling its intentions for this year.
The former team of Tasos Bakasetas and Manolis Siopis shows no signs of stopping there. Two weeks after the “bang” with the Egyptian star, Trabzonspor is aiming for another major signing, seeking to add Karim Benzema to its roster.
The Frenchman’s future at Al-Hilal is, to say the least, uncertain. The situation between the player and the team is tense, as Al Hilal wants to offload the “heavy” contract of the 2022 “Golden Ball” winner, while he himself is demanding to be paid for the entire year in order to leave.
The club tried to sell him to “newly promoted” teams in the Saudi Pro League, but Benzema rejected every such offer.
The former Real Madrid star has also clashed with coach Simone Inzaghi, and Al Hilal is determined to find a way to terminate his contract.
As things stand, Trabzonspor could offer the money the Saudis are asking for and give Benzema a new incentive to prove that he can still compete at the highest level, especially with a player of his own caliber by his side.
