New Bloodshed in Gaza: Israeli Bombings Leave 10 Dead

Among the dead was a 13-year-old girl

Health authorities in the Gaza Strip reported ten deaths in bombings by Israeli armed forces yesterday, including nine at a police station in Gaza City, while Israel announced that it had targeted Hamas commanders.

The strikes came on top of a series of others in recent days, as the Israeli military says it had been targeting senior members of the Palestinian Islamist movement, despite ongoing U.S. efforts to implement the so-called second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan.

Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, in the northern part of the enclave, reported that nine bodies were brought there, including those of a woman and a 13-year-old girl, as well as more than 20 wounded.

The Civil Defense, which is part of the Hamas government apparatus, confirmed the toll.

Relatives mourned the dead, who lay in plastic body bags on the hospital grounds, a scene captured by photographers from Agence France-Presse.

“Where is this ceasefire when our people are losing dozens of their children every day?” asked Mahmoud Judiya in front of Shifa Hospital.

The Israeli army reported that it struck a “gathering of terrorists” at the police station, including four members of Hamas and one member of the Popular Resistance Committees, who were allegedly plotting attacks against its forces in the enclave. “Before the strike, measures were taken to prevent harm to civilians,” he added.

He also stated that he launched a strike in Nuseirat (central Gaza) targeting a senior official of Hamas’s military wing, who, according to him, had launched the attack on October 7, 2023, in the southern part of Israeli territory—the trigger for the devastating war in the Gaza Strip.

Later, Aoud Hospital reported that it had received the body of a man who was killed in the Nuseirat refugee camp while riding a motorcycle.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem condemned the “dangerous escalation” and Israel’s “utter disregard for all calls for a ceasefire.” He accused U.S. President Trump’s “Peace Council” of being unwilling or unable to compel Israel to “abide by the agreements that were reached.”

Basem Naim, a member of the movement’s political bureau, described the situation as “unbearable” in remarks to AFP.

While the two sides accuse each other of violating the ceasefire agreement that went into effect on October 10, 2025, the “Peace Council” secured Hamas’s approval last month for the so-called roadmap for the so-called second phase of the Trump plan, which calls for Hamas’s disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from 60% of the enclave under their control.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the text, demanding “true disarmament” of Hamas.

President Trump’s son-in-law and envoy, Jared Kushner, who met with Netanyahu on Monday, said he hoped that the disarmament of Hamas would begin within “30 days” and added that the U.S. would not “restrict Israel’s right to defend itself in the event of immediate threats” from the Gaza Strip.

According to an Israeli source, Mr. Kushner and Mr. Netanyahu agreed to appoint a U.S. general to oversee the disarmament of Hamas.

Based on the roadmap published in July, the disarmament was supposed to be handled by the National Committee for the Governance of Gaza (NCG), a body composed of Palestinian technocrats whom Israel is preventing from entering the enclave.

Six people, including a child, were killed on Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike on a port in Gaza City, according to health authorities.
