In a brief ceremony held at the “Santiago Bernabéu,” Real Madrid introduced Ibrahima Konaté. Club president Florentino Pérez was in attendance, as was honorary president José Martínez Piri.
The French defender was one of the “Queen’s” first summer signings; he signed with the club as a free agent from Liverpool through 2030. The 27-year-old star (1.94 m) will become one of the highest-paid players at Real Madrid, earning 22 million euros annually before taxes.
During his five years at Liverpool, Konaté made 183 appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 4 assists. He also has 30 caps for the French national team, though he played in only two matches during the recent World Cup, both as a substitute.
