The world’s oldest person is celebrating his 117th birthday after a year marked by “many firsts,” during which she met with King Charles III of the United Kingdom and held his hand.

Ethel Caterham, who lives at the Hallmark Lakeview retirement home in Lightwater, Surrey, southwest of London, will spend her birthday today with her family and friends.
