The Famagusta CID is investigating an attempted murder following a shooting targeting a 33-year-old driver in the early morning hours in the Kokkines area of Ayia Napa. The 33-year-old was not injured. A vehicle found on fire in the Avgorou area appears, based on the investigation so far, to be linked to the case.
In statements to reporters and media representatives at the scene of the attempted murder, the Head of the Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department and Press Spokesperson for the Famagusta Police Directorate, Andreas Konstantinou, stated that the victim, a 33-year-old man, was shot multiple times while driving his vehicle around 5:40 a.m. “No one was injured in the shooting,” he said.

According to Mr. Konstantinou, information was subsequently received about a vehicle on fire in the Avgorou area. “Based on the investigations so far, it appears that the vehicle is linked to the attempted murder,” he added.
As the Head of the Famagusta CID noted, the case is in its early stages. “Investigations are underway at the scene of the attempted murder and at the scene of the vehicle arson, where evidence is being collected and all necessary examinations will be conducted,” he said.

Mr. Konstantinou also noted that the victim is not known to the authorities.
