“We knew what would happen once the Turkish Cypriots showed a willingness to reach a solution,” Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman begins his post on Sunday, saying that he will continue on his path with patience, composure, seriousness, and determination, and that he will not be provoked or lose his composure.
The Turkish Cypriot leader writes that they knew that once the “comfort zone” was disrupted, all sorts of provocations would come to the fore and attempts would be made “to play on our nerves.” Now, steps have been taken to cancel festivals and competitions—‘I prevented Turkish Cypriot youth from connecting with the international community’— and intense efforts are being made to prevent the international community and diplomats from seeing us, getting to know us, or listening to us… And many other things… That is why we said we would be patient, calm, and resolute, even before anything happened.”

Mr. Erhurman states that he wants to reiterate: “Let no one waste their time! We will neither be provoked, nor get angry, nor give in to our rage, nor lose our composure, nor will our patience run out. The things that need to be seen, we see them one by one. Those who intend to see, see everything.”
“We are extremely calm,” he adds, stating that they will continue their initiatives, reports, and contacts intensively, in accordance with the “people’s” will for a solution and cooperation with the international community.
