The Police are announcing a Cyprus-wide awareness and enforcement campaign, involving roadside checks to combat driving without hands-free use (using a cell phone or other object while driving), as this violation is a major contributing factor to fatal and serious traffic accidents.
The campaign will begin tomorrow, Monday, August 24, 2026, and will run through Sunday, August 30, 2026. Throughout the campaign, members of the Traffic Police will place special emphasis on addressing the use of cell phones or other objects while driving, while also educating the public about the serious dangers posed by driving without hands-free use.
