Deep mourning for the family of four-year-old Marios, who will say their final goodbyes to their little angel on Tuesday, August 25.
Little Marios’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., at the Church of Saint Savvas in Ypsona.

The family requests that, in lieu of wreaths, donations be made to two of our fellow citizens undergoing chemotherapy, in memory of their little angel.
The message from little Marios’s family in the funeral announcement is deeply moving:
“Your presence and love will be our greatest comfort. Our little angel, you flew to heaven too soon, but you will remain forever in our hearts and souls. Rest in peace, our little soul.”

As a reminder, 4-year-old Marios had been hospitalized for several weeks at Makarios Hospital, fighting for his life following serious complications caused by viral meningitis.
His condition had deteriorated significantly, as the child developed cerebral edema and was subsequently declared brain dead. He remained in the Intensive Care Unit for weeks, with his family constantly by his side.
Four-year-old Marios’ ordeal began in early July, when he contracted viral meningitis. His condition deteriorated severely, leading to serious complications and the need for prolonged hospitalization in the ICU.

The child was later declared brain dead, while the family filed complaints regarding possible delays, omissions, and errors in treatment, demanding a full investigation into the circumstances of the case and that those responsible be held accountable, if any are found.
On August 10, relatives and members of the public held a protest outside Limassol General Hospital, demanding answers and a full investigation into the allegations.
Little Marios “passed away” on Friday, August 21, with the relevant investigations into the case still ongoing.
