On Monday afternoon, President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides participated in a videoconference of leaders of the “Alliance of the Willing,” held to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s declaration of independence, according to a written statement by Victor Papadopoulos, Director of the Press Office of the President of the Republic.
The teleconference was co-chaired by the British Prime Minister and the French President. As stated in the written statement, the Republic of Cyprus, as a country that has experienced an illegal invasion of its territory and remains under military occupation, reaffirms its steadfast support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
“Peace can be achieved only on the basis of the UN Charter, without any external imposition,” Mr. Papadopoulos states.
At the same time, Cyprus supports coordinated European efforts to ensure that Ukraine is adequately prepared for the coming winter.
