Cablenet and Arena Sport Sign International Agreement to Broadcast Cypriot Soccer in Six Markets

Three-Year Agreement to Broadcast Home Games of APOEL, Anorthosis, and Omonia 29M
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Cablenet is entering into a major international partnership to promote and leverage Cypriot soccer content by signing a three-year agreement with Arena Sport, one of the leading sports broadcasters in the wider region, with access to an audience of over 10 million viewers.

Under the agreement, the home games of APOEL, Anorthosis, and Omonia 29M—whose television rights are held by Cablenet—will be broadcast via Arena Sport in six markets: Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

Partnership with a leading regional sports broadcaster

Arena Sport, a member of the Telekom Srbija Group and headquartered in Belgrade, is one of the leading providers of premium sports content in the region. It holds a significant position in the sports television market, with its programming including, among other things, the Serbian league and the Serbian Cup, as well as top international soccer competitions such as the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, and Ligue 1.

The inclusion of Cablenet’s soccer content in the lineup of a broadcaster with a strong presence in both the domestic and broader regional markets enhances the international visibility of the matches and creates additional opportunities for the commercial exploitation of the company’s sports rights.

Expanding the audience and new commercial opportunities

For Cablenet, the agreement with Arena Sport is not limited to broadcasting matches in six additional markets. It is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand the audience for its sports content, enhance the value of its sports rights, and develop new commercial opportunities outside Cyprus.

The three-year term of the agreement establishes a solid foundation for cooperation while paving the way for the further expansion of Cablenet’s sports content’s international presence and the exploration of new opportunitiesin additional markets.

At the same time, the agreement highlights the potential of Cypriot soccer content beyond the domestic market, demonstrating that, through targeted international partnerships and the right distribution networks, it can reach new audiences and create additional commercial value.

Strengthening International Partnerships

The agreement with Arena Sport complements the international partnerships Cablenet is developing to further leverage its sports rights.

The partnership with COSMOTE has been renewed for another year, covering the broadcast of 40 home games and further strengthening the presence of Cablenet’s sports content outside Cyprus.

These partnerships are part of Cablenet’s overall strategy to maximize the value of its sports rights through strong partnerships and a presence in international markets.

The three-year agreement with Arena Sport represents another significant step in this direction, expanding the international reach of Cablenet’s sports content and creating new opportunities for its further commercial exploitation.

Cablenet continues to invest in partnerships that open up new markets, expand the audience for its sports content, and enhance the international visibility of Cypriot soccer.
