Aris press officer Kostas Papadopoulos spoke to “SPOR FM 95.0” about everything related to the Limassol team.
He discussed the season opener against Apollon, the most recent friendly match against AEL, and analyzed the team’s performance. He also revealed that the team’s transfer plans have not yet been finalized.
In detail
How ready is Aris ahead of the season opener: “That question will be answered on the field. I believe we’re in good shape, though I don’t think we’re at 100%, which makes sense given the arrival of the new players. But what I can say is that we’ll be competitive; our goal against a more prepared team is to secure the win.”
On the roster and whether there’s cause for optimism: “Yes, we are. We’ve built the team around a new philosophy based on young, talented players.”
On the last friendly against AEL: “The score was tied throughout the 90 minutes. The result doesn’t matter at all. What’s most important are the conclusions our coach drew. He drew positive conclusions, but in games like this you also see weaknesses, and we’ll need to correct them by Saturday.”
On the new players: “They’re in good shape since they’ve been playing officially with their teams. You understand that when new players join, they need a little time to adjust—after all, they’re very young—but they’re ready to play. For our part, we’re giving them everything they need to integrate as quickly as possible.”
On transfer plans: “We’ll see how the next few days go. There are still almost two weeks left; in my opinion, since there’s still time, we haven’t finalized anything yet.”
On whether there will be departures: “I wouldn’t rule that out 100% either; perhaps there will be departures. As I said, there are still two weeks left before the transfer window closes.”
Regarding the reports on Gausthadt and Sarfo: “We’ve made our position clear on Sarfo—he’s not for sale. As for Gausthadt, there’s nothing official yet.”
On the team’s current status: “Pazé, Nikolić, and El Alachi are questionable, and we’ll be monitoring their progress this week to see if they’ll ultimately be ready in time. As for Vana, the doctors estimated 4–6 weeks; two weeks have passed so far, and his recovery is going very well—we’ll have to see if he’ll be back sooner.”
