Young in age, big at heart: Dimitriána and Stavriána’s heartwarming initiative for the “Little Heroes”

The unique little flea market organized by the two girls to support children who are fighting their own battles

They may be only 7 and 8 years old, but Dimitriána and Stavriána prove that generosity and solidarity know no age… The two young cousins from Limassol decided to join forces and organize a special bake sale with a very beautiful and touching goal: to raise money and donate it to the “Little Heroes” Foundation, supporting children who are fighting their own battles against cancer and leukemia.

Dimitriána and Stavriána, along with Dimitriána’s mother, Panagiota Mikelidou, spoke to AlphaNews Live about the special and heartwarming initiative they undertook, which “was born” from the desire of two young girls to help children in need. The idea came entirely from the two girls. As Dimitriana’s mother explained, they thought that toys that had been set aside and were no longer used could be given a “second life” and bring smiles to other children’s faces.

So, Dimitriana and her cousin Stavriana took it upon themselves to organize their own little bazaar. What particularly moved Dimitriana’s mother was the fact that two little girls decided to devote time from their summer vacation to such a wonderful cause.

“We were thrilled to see two young girls sacrifice time from their summer vacation to organize a bazaar for such a good cause,” she said.

Here’s what they reported on AlphaNews.Live:

“What is unnecessary to us may be of great value to someone else”

Panagiota Mikellidou didn’t hide her emotion, emphasizing that through this initiative, the children came to understand a very important lesson: something that may seem unnecessary to us can be of great importance to someone else.

Dimitriana, for her part, said she feels “really wonderful,” as the time has finally come when she will be able to help children in need.

The Two Girls’ Message

The two girls were asked to share their own message with the people who will visit the bazaar. Stavriana noted that even a small amount of money can make a difference:

“Even if they donate just a little money to us, it’s enough.”

Dimitriána added that it doesn’t take much to give:

“Even if they give us just a little love, so that we, in turn, can give to the children in need, that’s enough for us.”

A Wish for the Little Heroes

When asked what wish they would make for the children who need help, Stavriana gave a simple but meaningful answer:

“May they take their medicine and get well.”

A wish that encapsulates the very essence of the two girls’ efforts: to be able to offer, in their own way, a smile and hope to children who are going through difficult times.

“Let’s not be afraid to give”

Dimitriána’s mother emphasized that this initiative is an important lesson in generosity and empathy. The message, as she put it, is not to be afraid to give and to help anyone in need. And perhaps this is the greatest lesson taught by the two young organizers of the bazaar: that generosity knows no age, and that even a small act of kindness can be of great value when done with love.

Dimitriána and Stavriána prove that, when there is a willingness and love for others, even the simplest things can become the inspiration for a great act of generosity.

The two girls will be selling their favorite toys, fairy tales, and children’s books at very affordable prices, ranging from 1 to 5 euros. Through this initiative, they hope to turn the things they love into an act of generosity and love for other children in need.

The flea market will take place on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at 2 Areti Street, in Mesa Geitonia, Limassol.
