A new, all-out attack against the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority over the findings it issued regarding the book by author and journalist Makarios Drousiotis “Mafia State,” was launched in a lengthy written statement by former President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades.
In his 26-page statement, Mr. Anastasiades argues that the book’s findings and suggestions regarding the former President’s possible criminal liability do not correspond to the actual facts or are the result of error or influence from the prevailing atmosphere.”
Neither the Inspection officials nor the five members of the Authority escape his criticism, as he characterizes “it is regrettable, unfortunate, if not unacceptable, that the Inspection Officials as well as the five members of the Anti-Corruption Authority have succumbed to the prevailing atmosphere created by the people’s courts.”
At the same time, he characterizes Makarios Drousiotis and his supporters as “followers of nihilism,” saying that “they distort the truth by clinging to the verdict of the people’s courts.”
