Several wildfires broke out on Tuesday (August 25) at noon and in the afternoon in various regions of Greece. Fires broke out near the Salamis naval base in the Elliniko area, in Kalopigado, Keratea, in the Agioi Deka area, and in the village of Paranymfoi in Heraklion, Crete, in Stefani, Boeotia; in the Ktipimena area of the municipality of Almopia, Pella; and in Agios Vlasios, Boeotia.
At this time, the fires with no active front are those in Kalopigado, Keratea, in the Agioi Deka area, and in the village of Paranymfoi in Heraklion, Crete, while the situation has improved regarding the fires in Stefani, Boeotia, and in the municipality of Almopia, Pella.

Earlier, 112 emergency messages were sent ordering the evacuation of residents in the areas of Ano Vasilika and Nea Salamina (Bizani) in Salamina, as well as to residents of the Agia Marina and Tsonima areas in Keratea. In addition, a 112 alert was issued for the Agioi Deka area in Heraklion, Crete.
Only the Fire Department’s strong ground forces are battling the flames on the fire fronts that remain active, as aerial operations have been suspended due to nightfall.
