This is the first meeting between the two leaders since the UN Secretary-General’s visit to Cyprus in late July, Mr. Guterres, who announced his intention to convene an expanded meeting on the Cyprus issue, provided that there is sufficient preparation in terms of confidence-building, methodology, and substantive content, though he did not set a specific date.
The negotiators from both sides, Menelaos Menelaou and Mehmet Dana, met last week to prepare for the meeting between the two leaders.
