New details are coming to light about the background of the femicide in Nea Smyrni and what the perpetrator did and said before killing the 45-year-old woman in the entrance to an apartment building and took his own life.
All the testimonies in the authorities’ possession portray the perpetrator as a very controlling partner who wanted absolute control over his relationship.

According to ERT, which cites information from a relative of the victim, the 48-year-old man would suddenly show up wherever the 45-year-old woman was, indicating that he was monitoring her every move. According to the same woman, the perpetrator had sent the victim a photo in which he was pictured holding a gun pointed at his own head.

It is reported that he had attempted to contact the brother of his ex-partner, who, however, refused to meet with him and urged him to move on with his life without getting involved with her or her family.
Also of particular importance to the authorities are testimonies from the 48-year-old’s circle, who, according to ERT, had told both his daughter and his wife that he was planning to do “something big,” without, however, clearly revealing his plan. Reports indicate that he had told his daughter that she might not see him by her side anymore in the coming days.
At the same time, he reportedly gave his wife some money, telling her it was all he had at that moment, while urging her to take care of their child in case he was away.

According to reports, his wife told police that she did not know why her husband was acting this way. At one point, she even saw him crying, leaving the house, and returning later after spending the night away. He wouldn’t tell her where he was going or exactly what he was doing. This incident occurred just a few hours before the tragic murder.
At the same time, according to police sources, the weapon in the 48-year-old’s possession has been linked by Albanian police authorities, with the Greek Police investigating its origin and how it came into his possession.
The forensic examination is now expected to be completed in order to finalize the case file.
