The Warriors signed Georges Niang to a one-year contract worth $3.9 million, thereby completing the team’s 15-man roster ahead of the upcoming season.
Earlier that same day, they agreed to a one-year minimum-salary contract with backup guard Brandon Williams.
The 33-year-old Niang, who plays power forward, missed the entire season last year after suffering a fracture in his left foot in September.
Prior to that, he had a career 3-point field goal percentage of 39.9%, while he played in 72, 76, 78, 82, and 79 games over the previous five seasons. With his most recent team, Atlanta, he averaged 12.1 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 23 minutes per game.
Niang, whose father is from Senegal, is expected to take on a backup role in the frontcourt, behind Green, Porzingis, Horford, and rookie Lendeborg.
Meanwhile, starting this coming Saturday, Steph Curry becomes eligible to sign a contract extension, and both sides are expected to begin discussions, with a shared desire for him to remain with the Warriors until the end of his career.
