Omonia coach Henning Berg made remarks at a press conference ahead of the Europa League playoff rematch against Sint-Truiden.

Following the 1-0 loss in Belgium, the Norwegian coach stated that his team must score the goals needed to advance and that his players need to be more clinical.

At the same time, he expressed confidence that if his team performs as well as it did in the first match, then scoring opportunities will arise. As for the team’s condition, he said that Mayabela and Ondubajo are following their regular training schedule, while Aiting still needs more time to return.

Here are his comments in detail

Opening remarks: “We’re looking forward to the game; it’s a European playoff match. We played well in Belgium, but we didn’t get the result we wanted. We want to keep it going, play well at home, and score the goals we need to advance.”

How different does he expect Sint-Truiden to be compared to the first match: “It’s hard to say. If we look at how they’ve played in their away games, not much has changed this year. Logically, they’ll play their usual game; they won’t change much. They want to attack and dominate. We’re expecting them to play the same way. If they change anything, we’ll see.”

On scoring efficiency: “If we manage to perform at the same level as in the first game, we’ll have more scoring opportunities. Sometimes the goals will go in, sometimes they won’t. We want to score this time. We’re creating chances at a satisfactory level. But we also want to see some goals. So that we can have a chance at a positive result.”

Team news: “Mayabela is very close to returning. He’s been doing well in training over the last two days. Aiting’s recovery is a longer process; we’re looking at the best approach for him to ensure the best possible recovery and get him back as soon as possible. It’s hard to say when that will be; it’s something we’re working on. Odubajo has recovered from his injury and is training normally.”
