Tim Curry, the actor best known for his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the movie “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” has died at the age of 80.
Sources told TMZ that Carey, who had been battling serious health issues for over a decade, passed away late Tuesday night, August 25, at his home in Los Angeles.
Tim Curry began his Hollywood career in the late 1960s, before achieving major success with “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
Although the film was not initially well-received by critics, it later gained a new lease on life and became a cultural phenomenon through late-night screenings, just as happened decades later with “The Room.”
He also played Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s “It,” as well as the role of Mr. Hector in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” His filmography also includes “Annie,” “The Hunt for Red October,” “Muppet Treasure Island,” “Addams Family Reunion,” and “Scary Movie 2.”
Although he remained active as an actor in both film and theater, health problems limited his work in recent years. In 2012, he suffered a severe stroke, which required brain surgery.
Last year, around the time his memoir, *Vagabond*, was published, Tim Curry stated that he was still unable to walk.
