There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive police operations, six individuals were arrested for offenses including illegal possession of drugs, illegal residence in the Republic, failure to appear in court, and other offenses.
As part of these operations, 551 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, and 736 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 46 inspections were carried out at premises to address illegal activities, resulting in one complaint.
During the traffic checks that were conducted, 268 citations were issued for various traffic violations, and six cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 92 were for speeding, and eight vehicles were impounded as part of the police investigations. In addition, 173 breathalyzer tests were conducted, resulting in five citations, as well as one preliminary drug test that returned a positive result.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at crime prevention and suppression, continue daily, with an increased/reinforced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens’ sense of security, protecting citizens, and ensuring public order.
