Steph Curry is in talks with the Warriors about extending his contract

He is entering the final year of his contract
ALPHANEWSLIVE

The legendary Steph Curry has been with the Golden State Warriors since 2009, when he was selected seventh overall in the draft. Together, they changed the game of basketball and built a modern dynasty that dominated the NBA over the past decade. At 38, he’s entering the final year of his contract, and the Warriors are determined to keep him—forever.

The Warriors are expected to begin talks with Curry soon regarding an extension of their partnership, as the veteran guard becomes eligible to sign a new contract starting Saturday, August 29, according to “ESPN.”

Curry has the option to sign a new two-year extension with the Warriors, worth up to $136.7 million in total. If an agreement is reached, the new contract will keep him in Golden State until the season in which he turns 40.

The 38-year-old star, as mentioned above, is currently in the final year of his contract, which provides for earnings of $62.6 million. This contract resulted from the extension he signed in 2024.

Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy has already expressed optimism that Curry will remain with the team and sign a new contract, even though just last July the Warriors seemed ready to make plans for the… post-Curry era.

Last season, Curry played in 43 games, averaging 26.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, in what was otherwise a disappointing year for the “Warriors,” who made it to the Play-In Tournament, where they were eliminated by the Phoenix Suns, losing their spot in the playoffs.
