The Ministry of Defense provided further details in a statement regarding the type of unexploded projectile found at the Kalo Chorio firing range. As reported, it is an 81-millimeter flare.
A team of bomb disposal experts from the National Guard was deployed to handle the incident; after arriving at the site where the projectile was found, proceeded to cordon off and secure the area and took the necessary measures for its safe disposal.
Today, Thursday, August 27, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the process of neutralizing the munition in question was completed.
In addition, during work to widen a firebreak in an area south of the firing range, another projectile was located. Following an inspection by a specialized police bomb disposal team, it was determined that the projectile did not contain explosive material and, as a result, was safely recovered.
