The Democratic Alarm is calling for specific steps to convene a new Informal Conference on the Cyprus issue, describing the agreement between Nikos Christodoulides and Tufan Erhurman on weekly meetings as positive.
In a written statement, Pindarou notes that the agreement in and of itself does not constitute progress and states that the party will continue to maintain a responsible political stance and support our side’s efforts to resume substantive negotiations.

“The agreement between the two leaders on weekly meetings is positive, but it does not in itself constitute progress.
Concrete steps must be taken to hold the next informal expanded 5+1 meeting in the areas outlined by the UN Secretary-General, always keeping in mind the upcoming milestones: the United Nations General Assembly and the end of the Secretary-General’s term.
The Democratic Alarm will continue to maintain a responsible political stance and support our side’s efforts to resume substantive negotiations.”
