Ricardo Sa Pinto was extremely pleased after Paphos’s 4-2 victory over Dinamo City in extra time of their Conference League playoff rematch, securing their spot in the League Phase.
The Portuguese coach noted that the “key” to success was the team’s spirit, quality, and experience; he commented on the many injuries plaguing the Cyprus Cup champions, and thanked the fans for their support, expressing his pride in representing them and the city.
Here is what he said in detail: “We had plenty of chances, and I believe that for the most part, we were the better team. The key was the spirit, the quality, and the experience we have on the team. We had to stay calm amid everything that was happening—that’s what I told my players, and we pulled it off. A huge thank you to the fans for their support; they never give up, and neither does the team. I’m very happy and proud to represent the people and the city of Paphos. I’m very proud of everyone on the team. Sunday’s game will be tough; we have two days to rest. We’ll need to pick the freshest players to put in the game. I hope we get off to a good start.”
On injuries: “We’ve been pretty unlucky lately. We’re definitely stronger when we have all our players. Fortunately, the players who took the field gave 100% and came through. We have a lot of games ahead of us, so it makes sense that the more players we have available, the better.”
