An unexpected incident involving a 17-year-old dog occurred on Fleming Street, in downtown Thessaloniki, when Rocky fell into a hole about three meters deep, requiring the Fire Department to intervene to rescue him.
According to ERT, the incident occurred as dusk was falling, while Rocky was out for a walk with his owner. The hole was covered, but it appears it had not been adequately secured. Work had previously been carried out at that location, most likely by a HEDNO crew.
At some point, the dog wandered away from its owner and fell into the opening, triggering an emergency response to rescue it. Firefighters and a volunteer arrived at the scene, and a rescue operation was launched. The rescuers climbed down into the hole and managed to reach and safely retrieve 17-year-old Rocky.
Despite falling from a height of about three meters, the dog is in good health and has been returned to his owner, with his adventure fortunately ending happily.
