Rodri made his debut with Barcelona, coming on as a substitute in the final half-hour of the match against Bilbao (2-0). The 30-year-old midfielder, MVP of the last World Cup, was hailed at Camp Nou.
“I’m very happy to have played my first game, and pleased with the win. Two out of two. It’s important for me to find my rhythm and adapt to this great team. First minutes and good feelings,” said the Spanish international.
“It was a long summer—longer than usual. I need to find my rhythm quickly. I’ve had very few training sessions. Those minutes were very important for me to find my rhythm. This is where I wanted to be. Now it’s time to work,” he added.
“The best players in the world are here, and we have to be at that level. This team has significant room for improvement, and we’ll work on it,” he said.
He also highlighted the diversity of the players competing in the midfield. “The most important thing is that we’re all different. We offer the coach different options. There’s a lot of variety, which gives us a lot of depth,” he concluded.
