Olympiacos: Full-scale push in the transfer market—Dodo, Pedersen, Garcia, Vargas, and a battle for midfielders

Transfer "fever" for the Piraeus team
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Olympiacos has significantly stepped up its pace as the transfer window draws to a close, with the club’s staff working on several major deals simultaneously. The right side of the defense, reinforcements on the wings, and the acquisition of another midfielder are the main priorities, with the next few hours considered crucial for finalizing the roster.

At right back, Dodo remains one of Olympiacos’ top choices. The Piraeus-based club has been aggressively pursuing the Brazilian from Fiorentina and has submitted an offer reaching 10 million euros, in an effort to complete a high-profile transfer.

Dodo has a contract with Fiorentina through 2027, and his salary is approximately 1.5 million euros per year. Olympiacos believes he has the qualities to immediately take on a starting role; however, negotiations with the Italian club have not yet led to a final agreement.

That is why the possibility of signing Markus Pedersen remains on the table. The Norwegian right back is already in Greece and has undergone the necessary medical exams; he is now awaiting the final decision from the “Red-and-Whites.”

The fact that Markus Pedersen is already in Athens and has completed the formalities for his potential transfer keeps him very high on the list. Olympiacos, however, is still waiting for the final developments in the Dodo case before deciding who will ultimately be their choice for the right side of the defense.

At the same time, there is significant activity regarding the acquisition of a winger. Reports from Spain indicate that Olympiacos has submitted an official offer to Betis for Pablo García, a player who has been on the club’s transfer radar for quite some time.

The offer reportedly involves acquiring 70% of the 20-year-old Spaniard’s rights and includes 7 million euros as a fixed amount plus an additional 2 million euros in bonuses. Betis is reviewing the offer but has not yet given its final response.

Pablo García is considered a particularly promising prospect for both the present and the future. He can play on both sides of the attack, possesses speed and good technical skills, and stands out for his ability in one-on-one situations.

To date, he has made 32 appearances for Betis’ first team, scoring three goals and providing one assist, and his contract with the Spanish club runs through 2029.

Rubén Vargas also remains in the spotlight. The Swiss winger was once again left out of Sevilla’s squad, a fact that has fueled speculation about his possible departure.

Spanish media continue to link his name with Olympiacos and believe that the Piraeus-based club is among the serious contenders to sign him. From the “red-and-whites’” perspective, however, it does not appear that the matter has yet reached the final stage, although interest is genuine.

At the same time, Olympiacos is also carefully considering ways to strengthen its midfield. One of the top candidates is Morten Fredrup, with the Piraeus club having submitted an offer to Genoa and awaiting the Italian team’s response.

The Danish midfielder is a player Olympiacos is particularly keen on, as he combines intensity, work rate, pressing, and a strong presence on both sides of the field. His situation, however, is by no means considered easy, as Genoa has high demands.

The name of Edson Alvarez also remains on the table. The Mexican midfielder is still in the process of clarifying his situation, and Olympiacos is closely monitoring developments, in order to determine whether there is a viable path forward for this particular case.
