“The Cyprus Football Association actively participates in the institutional processes of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), as it did during the extraordinary session on July 30, 2026.
At the meeting, the 55 national member associations of UEFA reached a unanimous decision, rejecting FIFA’s proposal to sell the rights to its major tournaments to external investors.
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) remains steadfast in its alignment with UEFA’s common position and simultaneously adopts the new joint stance that was unanimously formulated in Monaco on Thursday, August 27, by representatives of national federationson the UEFA Executive Committee, European representatives on the FIFA Council, and presidents of UEFA member national federations.
In light of recent events and under the current circumstances, the CFF concludes that the necessary conditions for the FIFA President to continue performing his duties are no longer met.
The essential relationship of trust and collegiality between FIFA’s leadership, the Confederations, the National Federations, and the FIFA Council has been irreparably damaged.
The decisions to be made in the coming period are critical and must serve exclusively the interests and protection of soccer, while ensuring its unity, credibility, and institutional integrity.”
