A family was left homeless after lightning struck a storage shed at their home in Avgorou, causing a fire, while extreme weather conditions were underway. The fire also damaged the house, and the family of three will be accommodated for three days at a hotel, at the expense of the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
The Deputy Mayor of the Avgorou Municipal District of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, Panagiotis Michailas, told CNA that members of the Fire Department were working to extinguish the fire caused by a lightning strike on a home’s storage shed.
“The fire affected both the storage shed and the house, because the explosion shattered the windows of the house, allowing smoke to enter.”
