In the wake of the Turkish Cypriots’ outrage over the cancellation of various events, and especially the presence of Barcelona’s soccer academies, the next meeting of the leaders will take place this coming Wednesday.

This outrage is expressed in three separate letters from Tufan Erhurman to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Barcelona soccer club President Joan Laporta.

As expected, the reaction to the actions taken by the Greek Cypriot side—specifically by fanatical supporters of the two states in the occupied territories, such as the so-called Prime Minister Ünal Ustel—was even more intense.

“Sports in general, children, and soccer must under no circumstances be politicized. Yet the Greek Cypriot side has once again made our children a target of isolation. We’ve said this from day one: We will not force our children to pay the price for this outdated mindset.”

Announcing that, following a phone call with the President of the Turkish Football Federation, efforts will be made to arrange a visit to the occupied territories, as part of an event involving Turkey’s top soccer teams.

“As far as I’m concerned, we’re just wasting time at the negotiating table. And we can’t afford that. The Cyprus issue has been resolved. There are two neighboring, sovereign, equal states.”
Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu – So-called Minister of Foreign Affairs

He added that the region is literally ablaze, but despite this, people live in peace and security thanks to the presence of Turkish soldiers on the island.

A source of comfort to the ailing: the visit to the occupied territories by German MP Maximilian Krach, following an invitation from the President of the pseudo-parliament.

In fact, to provoke the Greek Cypriot side, the occupying authorities had him photographed wearing the No. 10 jersey of the so-called national team of the pseudo-state.
