There was a strong police presence and activity last night throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols conducted at key locations in urban areas, aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, maintaining public order, and enhancing the public’s sense of security.
As a result of these preventive policing operations, eight individuals were arrested for various offenses, including breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, drug possession, illegal residence in the Republic, as well as driving under the influence of alcohol.
As part of these operations, 695 vehicles were stopped for inspection overnight, and 916 individuals traveling in them were checked. At the same time, 58 premises were inspected to address violations, resulting in six complaints.

During the traffic checks that were carried out, 340 complaints were filed regarding various traffic violations, and 12 cases of traffic violations are currently under investigation. As part of the police investigations, 22 vehicles were impounded.
Of the complaints filed for traffic violations, 83 concerned speeding. There were 29 reports of driving under the influence of alcohol, while two cases of driving under the influence of drugs were identified following preliminary drug tests. A total of 336 drivers were tested for driving under the influence of alcohol, while eight drivers were tested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Law enforcement operations, aimed at preventing and suppressing crime, continue daily, featuring an enhanced police presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
