Authorities announced in the early morning hours that a fire had broken out at an oil refinery in northwestern Russia following the crash of a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, as Kyiv escalates its campaign against Russian energy facilities.
The "Kirishinefteorgsintez" oil refinery in Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russia, has been attacked.

“A fire broke out” at a refinery in the Kirishov area after a “drone crash” nearby, and emergency response services are “working on site,” Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drazdenko reported via Telegram, without specifying whether there were any injuries.

The regional governor reported that 42 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down in Leningrad, whose capital is St. Petersburg, home to major port infrastructure on the Baltic Sea, adding that air defense operations were still underway.
