As part of an investigation into the discovery of more than 230 kilograms of narcotics in Nicosia, as well as the discovery of a pistol, a revolver, explosive devices, and a large number of firecrackers, the police arrested a 30-year-old man yesterday pursuant to an outstanding arrest warrant against him.
This is the fifth arrest made as part of the investigation into this specific case. Four individuals are already in custody in connection with the same case: specifically, a 34-year-old man, a 27-year-old man, and two 26-year-old men.

The 30-year-old was taken into custody for the purposes of investigating the case and is expected to appear today before the Nicosia District Court for a detention order to be issued.

Timeline of the Arrest
As part of the police’s ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking, a coordinated operation was carried out on February 19 in the Nicosia district.
During the operation, members of the Narcotics Enforcement Service stopped, around 10:30 a.m., stopped a car for inspection in the Nicosia area; the vehicle was driven by a 34-year-old man, with a 26-year-old passenger.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, 11,480 firecrackers were found, resulting in the arrest of the 34-year-old on a flagrant offense.
At the same time, the 26-year-old was found to be in possession of approximately 27 grams of dried cannabis, as well as a white powder believed to be cocaine, weighing approximately nine grams, resulting in his arrest on charges of offenses committed in the act as well.
Subsequently, a search was conducted at a residence and premises associated with the 34-year-old, where the following items were found and seized:
- 167 kilograms of dried cannabis plant material
- 62 kilograms of cocaine
- 4.5 kilograms of cannabis resin
- A pistol, a revolver, and a replica pistol
- Two improvised bombs (likely containing low-power explosives)
- A number of 9-millimeter cartridges
- A sum of €12,765
- Two sticks of glue, likely impregnated with narcotic substances
- 381 e-cigarettes that appear to contain narcotics.
