Hopes of locating the 18 people missing from the tragic shipwreck in the waters off occupied Kyrenia—which claimed the lives of 8 passengers on the ill-fatedthat was en route to Tasouzu, Turkey.
Journalist Iakovos Iakovou, who was at the so-called “general” hospital in occupied Nicosia, reported on the Alpha News program that the vessel is lying at a depth of 500 meters below the sea surface and that neither the pseudo-state, nor Turkey possess the necessary equipment to salvage the sunken catamaran.

Meanwhile, new footage of the dramatic moments experienced by the catamaran’s passengers has come to light, revealing the chaos, panic, and despair that prevailed at the time of the shipwreck.
People can be seen trapped inside the capsized vessel, while others managed to break the windows and climb onto the side. Cries of anguish, screams, and sobs can be heard in the video.
