We’re kicking off Super Cup week, with Omonia and Pafos set to compete for the first title of the year this coming Thursday.
The match will take place at the “Alphamega Stadium” in Limassol and will kick off at 7:30 p.m., with live and exclusive television coverage by Alpha Cyprus and AlphaNews.Live.
This is a tournament with a 75-year history, dating back to 1951.
The first match was held on November 11, 1951, at the old GSP Stadium, and the first title was won by Cédin Kaya over APOEL.
Omonia has won the Super Cup 17 times and is the team with the most titles in the competition.
The first time was in 1966, when they defeated Apollon 3-1 at GSP. The most recent of the 17 titles came in 2021, with a 3-2 victory over Anorthosis in a penalty shootout.
Paphos is participating in a Super Cup match for the third consecutive year, having failed to win the title in its two previous appearances.
