When asked whether the fact that the Republic of Cyprus’s request for assistance and talks between Christodoulidesand Erciyuman is due to a reaction by the Turkish Cypriot side to the cancellation of festivals and events in the occupied areas, the Greek Cypriot negotiator stressed that we must not further compound the obstacles we are already facing.
“Perhaps what needed to be done had already been done, and this assistance would not have been necessary. As for certain factors that characterize the atmosphere as not positive, it is a fact that this assessment is accurate.”
